<<<< For
a while I lived in Vancouver and cycled nearly everyday of the week
to the Granville Market Place. It is a market place that caters
well for all manner of needs and while it has its commercial waterfront,
nothing is lost in the spirit of the place.
The character of this once thriving timber town is embedded on
Granville Island and so it is easy to feel a traveler in time here.
There is even a place for scheduled buskers of all nations and
on my very first visit I came across the mime artist Ambros.
Here was a consummate artist, who engaged so many who passed his
way and so, I asked if I might do a photographic essay.
Soon enough a magic moment unfolded between a little boy confined
to a wheel chair and the amorous Ambros. I never came to discover
who the boy was, but he left with his mother in absolute delight.
Moments later Ambros came over to me and quietly said, "this
is why I do this kind of work
if I can make one person happy,
then my day has been made worth while".
